New Camping and Boating-friendly Skoy Clean-up Cloths Save Space, Money, and the Environment

Encinitas, CA – April 14, 2010 — Compact, reusable Skoy cloths help campers and boaters travel light as well as leave a lighter footprint on the environment. And when they wear out, they’re biodegradable.

Space is always at a premium when packing for the outdoors. Campers and boaters know each item must earn its space in a backpack, RV or boat through usefulness. Outdoor enthusiasts also want to generate as little trash as possible, both for convenience as well as environmental responsibility.

Reusable Skoy cloths are ideal for the outdoors because they replace up to 15 rolls of paper towels with a lightweight, 7-inch square cloth that can absorb 15 times its own weight.

Alexa and Gregg McMan, of Bozeman, Mont., stock Skoy cloths in their green products store they own called GetN’Green. They also use them at home and on camping trips.

“We keep several of them in our camper. They are perfect for drying dishes and wiping down anything,” she said. “Then we bring them home, wash them and they are ready for the next trip. Love them!”

Randy Kurtzman, of South Windsor, Conn., a fan on the Skoy Facebook page, recently posted, “They are a miracle in disguise. In the house, the camper, the boat or on Boy Scout camp-outs, they are wonderful!”

Skoy cloths owe their absorbency and durability to a combination of natural cotton and wood-pulp cellulose. Most effective for use on hard surfaces, they do double duty by both absorbing liquids as well as washing and drying surfaces.

The cloths are 100 percent biodegradable, chlorine free, machine washable and can last for weeks if not months depending on use. When they have reached the end of their life, they can be composted for a no-waste solution.

“Skoy cloths are poised to become a staple in the outdoor recreation market,” said Skoy Enterprises co-owner Michelle Lundqvist. “With their versatility, durability and environmental credentials, they are a must-have for anyone who enjoys the outdoors.”

Skoy cloths come in a variety of colors printed with fun designs using water-based inks and dyes, and can be special ordered with a custom logo if desired. The McMans stock the regular designs as well as custom Skoy cloths printed with the GetN’Green logo.
